@benwerd Do you really think that people would go for that, though? What good is a blog if the entire world can't fine it?
- Mar 24, 2023 -
@odd that's beautiful! I love reading about your neck of the woods. I have never been there, but you help me pretend, for now.
- Mar 24, 2023 -
@maique I use DayOne, and love that feature, too! I don't see much value to it on my web site, though.
- Feb 1, 2023 -
@hollyhoneychurch Definitely a thrush of some sort. they are the only ones I have ever heard to sound so musical like that.
- Feb 1, 2023 -
@ronguest Which ones are you no longer using? I use Ivory on iOS with Sengi on the desktop.
- Jan 25, 2023 -
@holgerfrohloff Hearing about all of these different clients, not sure which one I want on iOS right now. I'm using Metatext for the time being.
- Jan 25, 2023 -
@odd I'm going to be doing that probably next month or so. Haven't decided when, but Ivory will be my client on iOS, this I know.
- Jan 25, 2023 -
@odd A norWegian choir? that's got to be beautiful! the language certainly is!
- Jan 25, 2023 -
@SimonWoods Apple calendar is janky as hell. I only use it due to other applications having no choice if they want to pick up my life's events.
- Jan 25, 2023 -
@pratik what's up with their RSS feeds? I haven't had an issue...yet.
- Jan 13, 2023 -
@philbowell I have been a Medium member though only because some of the best writing I have read to come out of the non-famous world has come from there.
- Jan 10, 2023 -
@manton And also the ability to change the time format to 24-hour time for those who prefer it. I think so much in 24-hour time now that 12 hour time makes me confused. LOL
- Mar 12, 2022 -
@odd Have to agree with you there. I even like the sounds of some harsher birds, particularly hawks and owls.
- Feb 20, 2022 -
@jgmac1106 that sounds amazing.
- Jan 7, 2022 -
@jgmac1106 What do you play?
- Jan 5, 2022 -
@khurtwilliams I also see that you have two sites, as well. Not sure if i'm going to do that, or whether or not I'm just going to point Wordpress back here like I've been doing.
- Jan 5, 2022 -
@amit Indeed!
- Dec 30, 2021 -
@odd I'm not surprised... isn't it always snowing during this time in Norge?
- Dec 27, 2021 -
@ChrisHannah I'm still in the spirit, though, somehow. It still feels like it's happening. That's because I see it as less of a religious holiday and more for the celebration of the coming spring; time with friends and family that's just a bit more special than the rest. I have lost my actual Christian faith a long time ago after reading one too many books about the history during Yeshua's time.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@ChrisHannah In light of that, lots of folks in my group are starting to see the horrid commercialization that this time has become. I value the gifting cycle, sure, but not overly, or anything too expensive.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@kurite caramel is so good, but I could never make it myself. Love eating it,though.The softer the better.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@kurite Reply by email's a thing now?Why haven't I heard of this feature yet? I'm following the @news account... I must be missing one,then.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@Miraz Gorgeous! I don't think we have birds as beautiful as those here in the US... if we do, definitely not here.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@cdevroe I could... but is there a point if not a whole lot of folks follow me there? I'm not referring to follower counts... more like,does anybody even know i exist?
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@pcora @cdevroe i'm guilty of this, too, though you will be seeing more of me once I get my own Pleroma instance... part of why I have disappeared is because I'm ready to host my own, but no infrastructure capable of it at the moment... or at least I don't think. I know what you're talking about,though.
- Dec 26, 2021 -
@maique Those things expire? Didn't know that.Thanks for the intel.
- Dec 24, 2021 -
@pimoore Society in its current itteration is hopeless. I follow the following formula: pay attention to your family, your friends, and yourself. No one or nothing else. Otherwise I'll go insane.
- Dec 24, 2021 -
@jeremycherfas Is that an app of some sort?
- Dec 24, 2021 -
@SimonDH Holiday spirit, I see?
- Dec 22, 2021 -
@ayjay I need to read this entire post... and I plan to, but from the exerpt I can see here... very, very good.
- Dec 22, 2021 -
@maique I think I'm in the opposite situation; pay $93 a month in datacenter costs... so, seems idiotic not to use the server I have. I, in fact, bought that server a few years ago now; she a R620, and she hosts a crap ton more infrastructure than that.
- Dec 22, 2021 -
@maique @chrishannah only thing... Wordpress and all of them have benefits if your preference, like mine is self-hosting. Plus the short URL schemes which MB doesn't yet have; my short URL is cp90.us, and I can't use it until I move my blog somewhere else.
- Dec 17, 2021 -
@manton Interesting... I don't mind WP, but I think I'm going to end up going back to Withknown... and I might end up moving my custom domain over here to a subdomain, potentially. I love the notes functionality of MB, but I like the ability to use other post kinds from the Indieweb space on other content management systems.
- Dec 17, 2021 -
@khurtwilliams How did you manage to find all of those? (we need more API support for data like that; how many haven't posted in several months, a year, two years, and so on.) Not talking about follower counts, although, I don't find anxiety in those, myself.
- Dec 16, 2021 -
@benwerd I would have all of that... but without the Ibuprofen. LOL
- Dec 10, 2021 -
@Cheri The crap you find on the internet... The internet has its ups and downs. That's definitely an up, right there. LOL
- Dec 10, 2021 -
@artkavanagh interesting.
- Dec 10, 2021 -
@amit I just read that post you wrote... good stuff. I think you just inspired me. I'm also guilty of character counting my shorter posts. I need to quit that.
- Dec 9, 2021 -
@tibz very sensible.
- Dec 9, 2021 -
- Dec 9, 2021 -
@odd I'm going to begin with Duolingo... love that thing. I'm also learning Italian at the moment, as well, but I think I can stick another language in there; Italian and Norwegian are so different, but equally beautiful.
- Dec 9, 2021 -
@odd I forgot. You're from Norway? I have ancestry there... not sure if any of them are still alive, but I want to learn Bokmal now. I love the sound of the language when spoken; your voices move more up and down than English allows. Not sure if it's the musician in me that appreciates tonal languages...
- Nov 30, 2021 -
- Nov 27, 2021 -
@simonwoods i’ve been pretty provocative up there, but I haven’t had that problem. Why?
- Nov 27, 2021 -
@snarfed that looks like a pretty awesome place.
- Nov 27, 2021 -
@simonwoods The problem is, what is the proper definition of new, nowadays?
- Nov 15, 2021 -
@tibz Web 3 can also equal logging in with your web site. In fact, I can predict, but I don't think that cryptocurrencies are going to be the hype that they are right now for much longer.
- Nov 12, 2021 -
@hollyhoneychurch Foxes are beautiful. I would love to hold and love on one... but I have never found an opportunity.
- Nov 8, 2021 -
@terrygrier I think linktr.ee is still a thing.
- Nov 8, 2021 -
@toddgrotenhuis Massachusetts is quite pretty today. It’s definitely warmer now than it was when I arrived at the office this morning.
- Nov 8, 2021 -
@toddgrotenhuis Morning to you, as well. How goes things?
- Nov 8, 2021 -
@maique No coffee? that's definitely not good. definitely not my favorite start to the morning... that's for sure.
- Oct 22, 2021 -
@philbowell amen, bro!
- Oct 19, 2021 -
@manton that’s actually pretty cool. It makes my life a whole lot easier.
- Oct 19, 2021 -
@manton One feature I would like to see... the ability to add alt-text to photos. (If this has already been done, then, forgive me for not seeing it.) Not sure if it's available already on Sunlit?
- Oct 19, 2021 -
@benwerd Not sure how much of the afterlife you believe... if any, but I have no doubt your dad was telling the truth. Either his third eye is open, or she really did show up, and he can see her with his physical eyes; the former is more likely though than the latter.
- Oct 10, 2021 -
@danielpunkass I would love to be able to walk that far. I doubt I could nowadays.
- Oct 9, 2021 -
@benwerd that's not a cursed thought, Ben, that's a brilliant thought. Do it, I would help test. Between Node or Go, I would pick Node, though, because it's native to more platforms. (it's a pain in the butt to get Goo applications running on the web on Windows, for instance.)
- Oct 3, 2021 -
@odd I get that sort of question all the time at work... user calls in... should I update this? Yes... because updats are for your security.
- Sep 30, 2021 -
@khurtwilliams I wish. though I haven't been there.
- Sep 30, 2021 -
@maique I have forgotten my default pin to get into my key... and for some reason, I can't reset it... at all. Not sure why.
- Sep 28, 2021 -
@benwerd the worst I have ever gotten was Canada. I have had calls from other networks, but mostly via either Whatsapp or Telegram.
- Sep 27, 2021 -
@manton Thank Gods it's not ust me. I thought I was going crazy... that or my phone was just being weird./..
- Sep 27, 2021 -
@Munish Test received...
- Sep 27, 2021 -
@Munish I haven't had an issue yet.
- Sep 27, 2021 -
@ChangelingMx We can only hope... LOL
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@jack what’s so bad about version 15?
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@fgtech Indeed. By the way, have you ever walked the trails in Lincoln? My family went to the floom last year. Scared the crap out of my mom because she had never seen hear heart rate go that high while walking. I just chuckled and told her to have a good time.
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@amit What is mailbrew, anyway?
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@Cheri Platforms, would be Kindle, provided that enhanced type setting is enabled, though I prefer a nice epub file myself...
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@jack Only problem with that? Kobo is completely inaccessible to blind folks using screen reading software and/or Braille to read.
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@fgtech I can relate... I'm a Bostonian through and through, but I also live part-time in NH when up at my parents' lakehouse in Plymouth. Both areas are nourishing to the soul for me; NH for her beauty, tres, nymphs, (I mean the spirits, not the slang term for beautiful females LOL), and solitude, and Boston for her energy, vigor, and bustle.
- Sep 23, 2021 -
@fgtech only thing I've gotten fromthat abomination is spam. LOL
- Sep 22, 2021 -
@jack I dislike Kobo in general, but that normally because for a blind person like me, no thought regarding making it accessible to people with different needs was put into it... at all. Neot even on the desktop.
- Sep 22, 2021 -
@ amit @jack I will normally respond wherever I see the post trusting that the poster has webmention or federation of some sort set up.
- Sep 22, 2021 -
@ronguest How does the sky have ridges? LOL... that one made my morning!
- Sep 17, 2021 -
@maique In Portugal, I take it? I have heard interesting and fantastic things about both cultures... and don't get me started on how beautiful both Spanish and Portugese are.
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@jack Omg yes! Not to mention, little pointy ears, too, right?
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@val How can Honey have different flavors? I always thought that honey itself is the flavor?
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@ChangelingMx Haha.
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@MirazHe is... He's gorgeous, too. He's more copper colored than blonde, which is awesome, too.
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@jean A 11-year-old golden retriever. He's a ball of fluff, but he's one of the friendliest dogs I have ever seen. He's big, and he'll bowl you over the moment he sees you if you're not looking.
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@jean I'm sorry, but that's just adorable. My dog sees me as a treat despenser, I think.. LOL
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@Miraz The little furballs!
- Sep 13, 2021 -
@benwerd Why the hell am I not surprised?
- Sep 11, 2021 -
@dsh1705 I eventually do want to set up bots for workflows in my private Teams organization... which right now doesn't have that many people in it. We only give people access to that if they're actually going to use it.
- Sep 11, 2021 -
@dsh1705 Nice. And... webhooks are awesome. I need to see what mobile options I have... because I'm interested also in the activity that other people do on the platform, not just my own projects. They took aware the RSS subscription functionality. GitLab still has it, but seems that more people use GitHub.
- Sep 11, 2021 -
@dsh1705 How did I not know that? I wonder if that's how you configure mobile notifications? (the ideal setup would be Ghostly on my desktop/laptop, and Pushover on my phone.)
- Sep 11, 2021 -
@jlelse That sounds like a fun day... I haven't been to one of those in a while, and doing it at random is even better.
- Sep 9, 2021 -
@ChangelingMx Thank you! At least somebody agrees with me? I saw a child's cartoon on Netflix, and nearly added it to my list... I refrained, though now I don't have to... Somebody does!
- Sep 7, 2021 -
@manton I also couldn’t figure out how to update it manually.
- Sep 7, 2021 -
@odd then a checkbox on the web. But this needs a Windows client, as well.
- Sep 7, 2021 -
@manton I need to play with that. Is that like Instagram?
- Sep 7, 2021 -
@amit All I can say... just what the heck is a Vodcast? I'm glad that didn't go anywhere either. LOL
- Sep 7, 2021 -
@ci Unffortunate. I don't know what aI would do without one... but to each their own.
- Sep 6, 2021 -
@pimoore I have Apple TV Plus and Netflix.
- Sep 3, 2021 -
@ridwan definitely let us know what happens.
- Sep 3, 2021 -
@samgrover you’re going to have a fun time. We had a horrible, my dad actually had to pull the last of them up a week or two ago.
- Sep 3, 2021 -
@ridwan well, good luck. Thankfully I never had to work from home, due to accommodations and what not, I was able to stay in the office this whole time. However, I think that if I had missed that opportunity, things with an affair so well.
- Aug 31, 2021 -
@amit I'm like you... I consider the colors of the room... for me, tech is part of the furniture, to be seen, not hidden.
- Aug 27, 2021 -
@JohnPhilpin omg that was a freaking amazing movie!
- Aug 27, 2021 -
@odd Holy crap... that's a good song.
- Aug 21, 2021 -
@ohBananaJoe It's a Saturday. Who cares.
- Aug 21, 2021 -
@euanlawson Another site I need to keep an eye on.
- Aug 21, 2021 -
@pimoore We seriously need to see more of this... but it doesn't help that dploying these things aren't the simpliest for the most part.
- Aug 20, 2021 -
@odd is that anything like SoundCloud?
- Aug 18, 2021 -
@canion I think I have a log in for that. Not sure, though. Will check.
- Aug 10, 2021 -
@amit I think it's a good option. after all, regardless of the transition phase we're in, portability is not for everyone. I still love the desktop on the Windows side, for instance.
- Jun 23, 2021 -
@benwerd I would be wondering the same thing... Out of all tthe things you could get... had to be that? LOL
- Jun 23, 2021 -
@EEMO And a vey good one; I am glad I joined. MB has some of the coolest people.
- Jun 1, 2021 -
@pimoore Have you gotten the feeds for GitHub to display?
- Jun 1, 2021 -
@pimoore The question though... how do we find the RSS feeds of these things? apps like Aperture do discover most feeds, but not all of them. I can pull in feeds from, say, Github, but they never actually pull anything.
- Jun 1, 2021 -
@help, not sure whether this is a thing or not, but has anyone else had issues connecting to indieweb.social? Authentication failed due to unknown client or unknown authentication method. Haven't seen that one before.
- May 31, 2021 -
@rom Side effect perhaps?
- May 29, 2021 -
@pimoore ubiquity has a Service called teleport. At least that was the name of it when I looked at it last. It’s mainly an enterprise class VPN for consumers. Their entire line is, honestly. Highly recommended.
- May 22, 2021 -
@ohBananaJoe don’t worry. I don’t actually shop in store very much either.
- May 15, 2021 -
@maique I have convertede mostly over to Telegram. Problem is just some people.Parents, of course, can stay on iMessage,for tht's secure, as well, so not worried about that, but Telegram is the favourit right now. If I could get everyone to use tht in my life, then, I could be happier, I think.
- May 13, 2021 -
@jean how can you quit Facebook when you have communities where you have to maintain a presence up there? The way a lot of the things go with search engine optimization, all the guidance that I found seems to point you over there.
- May 13, 2021 -
@jean that looks really nice. I like the red.
- May 2, 2021 -
@cleverdevil that’s one way to do it.
- May 2, 2021 -
@cleverdevil apparently that’s been a thing lately. It takes forever for any sort of equipment to actually show up.
- May 2, 2021 -
@kaa so it’s for notetaking, then? That’s what I got out of it.
- May 2, 2021 -
@kaa I downloaded that application, but still haven’t quite figured out how to use it. I need to look into it more.
- Apr 29, 2021 -
@arush All I can say... it's a huge mess, that will take years to clean up.
- Apr 29, 2021 -
@khurtwilliams I wanted to learn Irish, which is one of the languages that my ancestors spoke. As beautiful of a language as it is, and I’ll probably still learn a few phrases here and there, I can’t find any practical use for it. It’s not that it fell out of interest for me, because it didn’t, but it’s so hard to learn without an instructor.
- Apr 29, 2021 -
@kitt what kind of dog is she? That’s adorable.
- Apr 29, 2021 -
@ohBananaJoe I think the issue has something to do with the company itself getting involved with politics. In my opinion, considering companies aren’t people, they shouldn’t have opinions, but obviously our society says differently. I hate it. In all honesty, I hate society the way it is right now, and needless to say I have been more than a little rebellious.
- Apr 26, 2021 -
@arush that sounds absolutely delicious, except next time? Go with peppermint syrup, not peppermint creamer. Syrup is much smoother, and not to mention, healthier, I think, as well.
- Apr 21, 2021 -
@bradenslen awesome. It’s really good to know stuff like that exists.
- Apr 21, 2021 -
@bradenslen I agree with this, too, in theory. But in reality, though, want to cause more problems and it solves? People looking for personal website to be a Google now I won’t be able to find us. Am I right, or am I misunderstanding somethingg?
- Apr 19, 2021 -
@jean you can develop allergies to anything, but that seems particularly odd. I’ve never heard of that.
- Apr 18, 2021 -
@maique that gives me something to look up. I’ll have to do that.
- Apr 18, 2021 -
@maique is this one of the new DNS services that are out there? They seem to keep springing up all over the place. What’s better about this one, compared to the tons of others that exist?
- Apr 18, 2021 -
@jean mangoes are so delicious. My father will get them sometimes, and when I have breakfast with my parents, there’s always a bowl of them in the center of the table. My father and I love them, but my mother won’t touch them for some reason. I don’t know why, they’re way too delicious to pass up.
- Apr 18, 2021 -
@cleverdevil they’re all there. I swear. My mothers line in particular, goes back to at least 1865, at least we are aware of. I can feel every single one of them. I think it will be the same with her, she simply joined the ranks of your ancestors to protect and guide you.
- Apr 12, 2021 -
@canion I installed that, though haven't quite gotten the hang of it. I like the concept, though.
- Apr 4, 2021 -
@paulopinto Thanks for the link.Will be taking a look at that here in a while.
- Apr 4, 2021 -
@paulopinto wow. That’s an absolutely fantastic point. I will definitely start keeping that in mind the more I keep track of stuff. I’m going to actually evaluate in terms of some things whether I I even need to. After all, a lot of it comes automatically thanks to Apple, so it also depends on how much work you’re putting into it on your part.
- Apr 4, 2021 -
@gr36 Why not? You have one listener already. Do it, I say.
- Apr 4, 2021 -
@paulopinto That is way too interesting... I can see where you're coming from. I find that if I don't log things, then I forget to actually perform the good habits.
- Feb 9, 2021 -
@odd When was this?
- Feb 9, 2021 -
@gr36 Indeed it has been. Thenm again, it's Monday. What can I say. at leat I ended it on a good note from talking to my friend who I haven't talked to in a while. Hope you found some relaxation time, as well.
- Jan 20, 2021 -
@arush That's if I can get in there, of course. I think I have it tied right now to an email address to which I don't currently have access, and I can't find my credentials.
- Jan 15, 2021 -
@manton That was such a good series. I read all of them; took me about a freaking year ... but ... was excellent.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@odd It seems that we always need to be in control of everything; seriously concerns me with the way the future is going on; there will be soldiers on every corner, and now in space, as well?
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@toddgrotenhuis Nice! I just grabbed that,but Amazon'salgorith, keeps distracting me,so other new series keep getting ahead of it. LOL
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@toddgrotenhuis You guys are reading the stormlight Archive, t too? I need to re-read it, considering it's been way,way too long.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@jeremycherfas I question the validity of cloudflare's "protection" daily.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@jeremycherfas I should be able to. That's the odd things about it. Then again, I think the time zone is off on purpose for some reason. I forget why. My site is not the only one up there, and it is certainly the least important of the applications hosted
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@nathanrhale you are so right there, my friend. I feel like in today’s society there is way too much of that very thing going on. No one wants to talk about anything, and believe me. I don’t think it’s their fault. I think it’s their upbringing if anything.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@toddgrotenhuis dang right.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@jeremycherfas I know how that goes. I’m having some issues with my site too. Timestamps are all off, but unfortunately where it’s hosted, there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it, because the time zone is set to accommodate one of the corporate applications that is also hosted on there.
- Dec 19, 2020 -
@maique thankfully I haven’t had to drop any services yet, but I sure do know what it feels like when applications get changed, functionality that you love gets dropped, and so on. It sucks.
- Dec 18, 2020 -
@lostfocus what were you trying to do?
- Dec 18, 2020 -
@cambridgeport90 i’m on the other side of it. The information technology side, but what I think happened. It was either someone who’s in my office, which thankfully there aren’t too many right now, or it could’ve been for my dad, who works in construction. I could’ve chosen to work from home from the beginning, but trying to test out the equipment with my screen reader accommodations, plus being 100% remote for six months or more, that would’ve been a little bit tougher on my psyche that I was willing to chance.
- Dec 9, 2020 -
@Ron I never saw this post. But to answer your question, in light of the current situation down there, she realizes that at the moment she doesn’t want to be there, and would rather be here where she could move around and still have some semblance of an in person social life.
- Dec 9, 2020 -
@ronguest i’ll tell you it actually didn’t work out as well as I would like. For one, the windows application is not very accessible with screen readers, that could be fixed probably with some scripting, but it’s still kind of a pain in the butt. Also, there’s still a couple of features missing, like the ability to have more than one entry per day, which is what I really like day one for. If those things could be fixed, then it would be awesome. The former, more important than the latter.
- Dec 1, 2020 -
@Ron after what that state has become? Good going. I wish my friend would get the hell out of there. She moved away last year, and is regretting it. Big time.
- Dec 1, 2020 -
@Cheri I think the feta verse will actually prevail here. I hope I’m right.
- Dec 1, 2020 -
@Cheri good to know. I hadn’t read that, but then again, they always seem to be changing stuff around faster than people can blink, so honestly not surprised. I do wonder what is going to happen to the rest of the world. And, I need to find some thing to replace good reads that’s actually Federated. Suggestions? Especially because most of the authors that are dear to me only sell on Amazon. That doubly stinks.
- Nov 30, 2020 -
@arush I actually had to re-authorize earlier. No wonder it wasn’t working. I did think it was odd, but then again, not surprising.
- Nov 28, 2020 -
@pratik is it really getting that bad? In terms of verification? Nobody can trust for the people signing up or actually human beings anymore? That’s actually rather pathetic.
- Nov 19, 2020 -
@a_seagull_story Wish I knew, that's for sure.
- Nov 15, 2020 -
@moridin Why am I picturing a ton of trees arou d there?
- Nov 10, 2020 -
@SteveSawczyn microsoft ToDo, mostly.
- Nov 10, 2020 -
@a_seagull_story Thanks for that.
- Nov 9, 2020 -
@a_seagull_story Not so much new projects, but different ones. a LLC is taking a different turn than it did when I first envisioned it.
- Nov 5, 2020 -
@macgenie A bit of a sugestion .. as an update to the app on iOS, might be cool to receive notifications for the monthly prompts? I keep missing them, and now I understand why.
- Nov 3, 2020 -
@schuth Right now, only Trump can do that.
- Nov 3, 2020 -
@SteveSawczyn I need to play with it once again, though I'm so used to third-party apps for that, now.
- Nov 3, 2020 -
@arushit sort of defeats the purpose, unless you woke up ... LOL
- Oct 30, 2020 -
@bradenslen That's the hard part ... all of us (we're kinda small, about five), are good at both. LO)L.
- Oct 27, 2020 -
@ronguest What sort of game is that?Sounds fun.
- Oct 25, 2020 -
@mcg I'm wondering then whether it's seriously time to invest in learning Linux on the desktop,then? I've heard that evolution's good.
- Oct 25, 2020 -
@arush @Manton ... then it's looking like it might be back to Withknown for me; seemingly that has more support for stuff out of the box. No, the Activitypub support is not as good at Wordpress's, though I am wondering whether it's a losing battle; I mean, why focus so much on a new editor that people have to jump through hoops to use? I have sighted friends who don't even like that thing, mind you. At this point, you're right, Webmention needs to be supported out of the box, even for business sites, not just personal ones. eventually the Indieweb is going to have to save the public and for- and non-profit sectors, as well. I still have a SEO plugin on my site, though, right now, that's the only way to be found. If I switch back to Known, then, that will be harder.
- Oct 25, 2020 -
@helgeg dang. That sort of messes things up a bit. Although, I actually use OpenPGP and rather enjoy is via GPG4Win. I find it easy to use, and the idea eventually is to have my key on my site once I finally set it back u[p all the way.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@kimberlyhirsh I have heard this one is good, though I have only seen the movie.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@becky @danielpunkass, I actually want Trump to win, unfortunately for you guys. The other one scares me, more than anyone probably knows.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@schuth Not sure how I feel about sweet potatoes, either. A friend of mine says they're delicious, and when I told him that I only had ones at school, he told me that's why I didn't like them.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@mcg Does it work with Outlook?
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@jgmac1106 That sounds like it will more than likely make you go insane. LOL
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@arush @manton indeed I do have that installed, but the question is more on how to get other content management systems to support the same, so that people who don't have a MB site can do it, too? I normally start on my own site and then post back here. Is that functionality part of Micropub?
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@helgeg I think I'm too used to servers like exchange, which have all this cool business-grade functionality, and I seem to think I need that on my personal email, as well; after all, IMAP doesn't have any support for calendar/contacts/notes/tasks syncronization, does it?
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@arush It resonated with me because I tend to fall on the mustical side of things, as well, but in the Christian vein rather than the Jewish, though I find the two schools of mysticism remarkable in their own right.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@Manton, this question is for you as the creator of this awesome place. What technology and/or paradigms would it take to build in the domain mentioning functionality that would trigger a webmention on the site of the mentioned domain? I want to be the one to eventually add that functionality to something like Wordpress or Known. That's not a Hugo specific thing, is it? Other CMSs have it, though rare.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@Cheri What is it normally?
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@helgeg I just wish they supported more than just webmail.
- Oct 24, 2020 -
@arush That's a beautiful picture. Isn't the tree of Life a cabalahist symbol? Doesn't it stand for a few things? I know that the Irish use it, too.
- Oct 19, 2020 -
@maique I need to get back to the books section of this wonderful place; I have been derelict in my duties to look LOL.
- Oct 19, 2020 -
@lukas You just gave me something to look into; I had never knew prior to this that "system change" was a thing. Not sure whether I'm just okay with things that I can't personally control changing, or what, but ...
- Oct 19, 2020 -
@arush This looks like a cool site. If only my favourite authors weren't amazon exclusive, though I hesitate to pich the idea of going to other places to the,m since they are indie authors, so, they distribute how they can, and every penny counts for them.
- Oct 19, 2020 -
@ChangelingMx Haha nice. I just wish more people would be opened to these sorts of things. People I know claim it isunatural.
- Oct 15, 2020 -
@bradenslen Is it Chromium based, by any chance?
- Oct 14, 2020 -
@arush I'm still wondering when the Foursquare team is going to fix their notifications. Have you noticed that when people check in and stuff, you don't get notified on Mobile anymore? Also with leaderboard tallies, as well. Reinstallation does nothing LOL
- Oct 14, 2020 -
@bradenslen Does it have a pretty copper color to it? I might have to get one if so; I love that hue.
- Oct 13, 2020 -
@pratik it's times like these where it might be good to go back to our roots. Only the people. Might make more sense.
- Oct 13, 2020 -
@pratik the electoral college ... I never in all my studies ever understood it.
- Aug 24, 2020 -
@cambridgeport90 this is going to be interesting, considering a lot of newer books don’t have them, especially the Amazon. exclusives. That’s one of the reasons why it annoys me. LOL
- Aug 24, 2020 -
@martinfeld I swear ... if all social networks had a subscription fee associated with them ... I would pay it. I recently joined pnut.io. Proud to support them. Why can't Twitter do that? Why not Facebook? Not to mention, their hostility towards APIs.
- Aug 24, 2020 -
@martinfeld it seems like a lot of the fun has been taken out of these things. It’s awful.
- Aug 24, 2020 -
@martinfeld One social network I have never had any desire to be a part of. Amen.
- Aug 6, 2020 -
@ayjay Yes ... that feature is pretty amazing. We just need to make the Indie Book Club site look more like Good reads, and everyone'll be happy.
- Jul 16, 2020 -
@maique I know how that feels. On my side, it's always my daed who makes sure that the groceries are refreshed.
- Jul 16, 2020 -
@maique Yes. dear Gods my phone ... dictation ... I guess it's her way of saying good morning. LOL
- Jul 16, 2020 -
@maique oh. That makes sense now. I just actually installed that. It would be nice, is having more citations from here. Need to get a plug-in for “backs, somehow.
- Jul 16, 2020 -
@maique How does having the OpenGraph plugin help lure people to the open web? I don't get that; isn't that for search?
- Jul 7, 2020 -
@manton I wonder what we will see wit this, but sounds pretty awesome!
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@maique What about IndieWeb features?
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@maique That makes sense in that case; I guess it depends on which features you want. I, personally, would ignore any integrated hosting.
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@maique Why pay for a subscription at all? Why not host Wordpress or something else yourself?
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@maique I don’t know about that. What are you using adobe for anyway?
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@SteveSawczyn I might not be remembering correctly, but I think i rad that one a while ago.
- Jun 29, 2020 -
@maique You could use something like Motomo or Fathom. I haven't decided which one I'll be using as of right now.
- Jun 24, 2020 -
@ronguest That is a good point. It all depends though on how willing normal schools will be to open. I'm for one, glad I don't have kids, for if I did, I'm not sure I'd make the right decision as a parent. Either way, I think this is only temporary. can never be sure, though.
- Jun 24, 2020 -
@zorn I haven't played either yet. Need to play The Last Of Us II, though
- Jun 24, 2020 -
@jgmac1106 No statue should be torn down regardless of who they represent. But an abolitionist statue? Why?
- Jun 20, 2020 -
@V\_ How is that series? Sounds like it's right up my alley.
- Jun 16, 2020 -
@canion Bring the canion.me domain over to micro.blog?
- Jun 16, 2020 -
@alexsavin nothing like the fantastic click that emanates from that. Not even a mechanical keyboard can properly do it justice.
- Jun 7, 2020 -
@arush darn. That’s exactly what I figured. I’ll have to let my friend know, because that’s going to be interesting in light of a site that she’s working on.
- Jun 6, 2020 -
@pratik that is so awesome. Now I need to go watch that. LOL
- Jun 6, 2020 -
@pratik That was a really good movie, though I think I saw the Raiders of the lost arc, though.
- May 9, 2020 -
@jgmac1106 A lot of things that I forgotten about here these past few months, maybe even for the past year or two. Poetry is eternal, ethereal, and remarkably beautiful. This one is no exception.
- May 9, 2020 -
@arush it’s around 16 something here, and already I’m getting hungry for these things. Oh dear. I think I have my meals in the wrong order? LOL
- May 9, 2020 -
@danielpunkass you ignore the lecture. That’s what I would’ve done. I mean, in my state the stuff is getting ridiculous.
- May 1, 2020 -
@sonicrocketman I never thought of it like that. I guess I have a lot to learn.
- Apr 27, 2020 -
@sonicrocketman You sound like a luddite.
- Apr 27, 2020 -
@sonicrocketman The ripeness for fraud, though, is my concern regarding vote by mail. People need to be granted access to the polls. We can't be isolated forever.
- Apr 27, 2020 -
@JohnPhilpin I thinkmy state is one of the worst ones, and I already have an extension at the office until June 30th. Don't lieke it much, for that means that if work distancing is extended, when are people going to be comfortable hanging out? I haven't seen my two best friends in three months.
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@nathanrhale interesting. I’ve always enjoyed the scent of it. Maybe the next person I run into, I’ll ask to take a stab at it. LOL
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@nathanrhale I think it could have to do with twhere you are getting your tobacco from?
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@nathanrhale i’ve never done it, so I guess I can’t seem to comprehend how smoking without inhaling woodwork. LOL
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@aaronpk that should be pretty awesome.
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@nathanrhale I know they’re bad for you, just like cigarettes are, but it doesn’t seem like there is many stigmata around them. Not sure why.
- Dec 21, 2019 -
@nathanrhale I have to agree with all of that. I thought of getting a tablet for myself for the hell of it, but this is the exact reason why I haven’t. You hit the nail right on the head.
- Dec 16, 2019 -
@jjj that analogy is awesome. A friend of mine actually has them, so I’ll see if he has any advice that I can potential he throw your way.
- Dec 16, 2019 -
@jjj I am in the midst of beginning a project like that for my apartment
- Dec 16, 2019 -
@monton, we need a feature on this where we can repost things directly from here. I haven't figured that one out.
- Dec 16, 2019 -
@arush I love that name. adorable
- Nov 24, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin it sucks that we have to consider thinking of these things in these days, but the unfortunate part of it is that we do.
- Oct 15, 2019 -
@arush that word simply needs to not exist sometimes. LOL. It’s way overrated. Just my personal opinion, but, you know what I mean. Great point.
- Oct 15, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin now this I actually agree with. Even though I personally like a lot of the things he’s doing.
- Oct 13, 2019 -
@jamescousins I don’t think it is possible. Then again, I haven’t found anything to beat that particular software in terms of features and quality.
- Oct 13, 2019 -
@johnjohnston have fun, folks.
- Oct 12, 2019 -
@pratik that is awesome. LOL
- Oct 12, 2019 -
@kevinmarks I just gave you a repost. I love the name of the article, by the way.
- Aug 16, 2019 -
@smokey Thanks. It’s been crazy these past few days, that’s for sure. I didn’t want any of the community to wonder what it happened. So I figured I’d post a little update. Still can’t type very much, however, that’s improving.
- Jul 27, 2019 -
@JohnPhilGood stuff.
- Jul 1, 2019 -
@arush I have Google Maps as the provider, though I don't know how to get the API key for it. I need to.
- Jun 29, 2019 -
@hutaffe No worries. I live in New England, and I’ve had this very same thing happened to me. It’s nuts.
- Jun 25, 2019 -
@smokey I’m glad I’m not the only one. It’s technically part of a larger company, and I fell into the leadership position for that division, as well. Look for stormlightTech, if interested. Right now the OpenCAD project is our only one, though I plan to branch out into other types of projects. For the moment, the gaming community is where it’s at. at.
- Jun 19, 2019 -
@arush I still find the location cool; trying to get it set up on my site, as well, though haven't quite gotten it working. I've gotten posts from Quill to post my location like once.
- Jun 13, 2019 -
@help a post by help
That seems to be a problem over here as well. It’s common, I think.
- Jun 13, 2019 -
@help a post by help
That would be pretty cool. I have had to use alternate interfaces with the default editor being inaccessible via screen readers.
- Jun 13, 2019 -
@handy a post
Only thing with that is step inaccuracy.
- Jun 12, 2019 -
@uliwitness a post
I don’t think I know that one, or at least not yet.
- Jun 8, 2019 -
@manton a post by manton @zachphillips Facebook shut down parts of their API last year and now they only allow pages. I’m not sure about a more comprehensive guide… Short version: post to your microblog first, enable cross-posting via Micro.blog, and also try OwnYourGram if you still want to post to Instagram. If there’s …
I think that was a huge mistake for them to disable that part of their API. After all, what are they trying to gain by doing that? is probably something that I’m missing.
- Jun 8, 2019 -
@zorn a post
Well, good luck. After all oh, there’s only so many. LOL
- Jun 1, 2019 -
@Ron That's got to be one of the coolest places to work ...
- May 22, 2019 -
@manton Thanks. I can take that cross post off, then, and just have people follow the feed from my external blog itself.
- May 21, 2019 -
@ayjay a post
You can say that again.
- May 21, 2019 -
@odd a post by odd
Rabbits are gorgeous.
- May 21, 2019 -
@odd I used to love that thing, so I'm frankly surpriseed I don't remember it at all.
- May 21, 2019 -
@Cheri Interesting. I like the distinction, myself.
- May 18, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Interesting.
- May 16, 2019 -
@craigmcclellan gosh, I remember field day. It was years ago, though. 30 feels old sometims.
- May 16, 2019 -
@craigmcclellan Can I just state how absolutely adorable that is?
- May 15, 2019 -
@Cheri They make fun of Australians. It's hilarious. I've never watched the show, though.
- May 15, 2019 -
@manton I never paid for a subscription, though I wish I had been able to, though I did use Tweetings on iOS; don't use it anymore since it is now having to use Twitter just to keep notifications of important content coming. not to mention, with the new API, you can't actually really keep track of important people per device like you used to be able to. You made the right decision.
- May 15, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx what reader are you using again? Monicle, right?
- May 15, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx i haven't peersonaly encounterred that, but I know aht you mean.
- May 15, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx What broke? I can see it, yes.
- May 14, 2019 -
@oroboThat works quite nicely, and with Markdown, you can even do alt text for descriptions which makes is easier.
- May 14, 2019 -
@pratik Nice
- May 14, 2019 -
@blair I would avoid them with a ten foot pole if I could.
- May 14, 2019 -
@Cheri i saw that, too; I got one since my organization is also subscribed.
- May 14, 2019 -
@Cheri They all suck, things like that. Seriously LOL.
- May 13, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx I need to prioritize that then, I think.
- May 13, 2019 -
@arush I have to agree with that.
- May 13, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Indeed. i i can never seem to comment on your posts; all the more reason why an IndieWeb reader is needed, I think. The comment option doesn't show up on notes in your case.
- May 13, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx It wasn't so much posting I was having issues with. was more having issues adding subscriptions and replying to people. I couldn't even add a couple of extra RSS feeds for some odd reason.
- May 13, 2019 -
@aaronpk Thanks for the update. Will have to think about signing up. All I have is my micro.blog microsub endpoint right now, but I can easily auth with a different site in the future, right?
- May 12, 2019 -
@manton How do you actually get it to work, though? I'm trying to get my custom domain working, though, too. I don't know if that matters? I want to have two, eventually.
- May 12, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Hi. I always love to listen to you.
- May 12, 2019 -
@aaronpk Can I ask a question? I wannt to set up an Aparature instance. Am I able to follow straight up RSS feeds up there? Want to follow venders and company blogs as well as personal ones. Possible, isn't it?
- May 3, 2019 -
@schuth I didn't thnk those were allowed?
- Apr 29, 2019 -
@manton I see them looking favourable. After all, how many people to you have paying for your services even with an external blog other than myself? Many, I hope.
- Apr 28, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx So what did you decide to do?
- Apr 28, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx That's probably a question for @aaronpk.
- Apr 28, 2019 -
@pratik Holy crap! And that shit was still good? Nom!
- Apr 22, 2019 -
@smokey Mother Nature. There's on one like her.
- Apr 22, 2019 -
@smokey Whoa. That's a lot of good stuff! Can I have some? LOL
- Apr 19, 2019 -
@manton I think out of all the assistants, Google is still the best at natural language.
- Apr 18, 2019 -
@smokey Good thing, then, that my contacts are stored in multiple places, Full Contact, actually. See if FB knows how to look at that, can't be sure they don't, though.
- Apr 18, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx What if I told you that I'm even more insane? I want to go even further and try and convert those who are my true friends to use a friendica server hosted by me?
- Apr 16, 2019 -
@blair staring right at Kronos timekeeping software; mycompany uses it at my day job; five percent of the calls the service desk gets? Java not working.
- Apr 16, 2019 -
@arush You just made me hungry LOL
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@arush You can use the paid version of the social network auto poster plugin in order to handle the Twitter portion of that. Could also post directly to Facebook profiles, to, if you get the Snap API, though that's a subscription, so not sure whether or not you want to go there.
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@arush You ought to see my Goodreads account. The number of books I have up there is ridiculous, then again, some of the ones I have marked as to read probably will never be read. I can't find them anywhere.
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@manton Benefits among others of having a social network like this. Seemingly only the nice people stay up here.
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@arush Nice! Will have to play around with it, now, myself. And dang me do I wish this thing had notifications LOL .. Need to set up Dialogue on android, methinks.
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@joelmearig Indeed. they do grow up way too fast, though.
- Apr 15, 2019 -
@arush I love thunderstorms, too. It's amazing the wonders of our world, isn't it?
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@ronguest Now isn't that cute?
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@samgrover I've never heard of it.
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@joelmearig That's awesome. Especially when they're young and curious.
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@arush That's written by @aaronpk, isn't it?
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@samgrover Nice.
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@ronguest Such a pretty sight.
- Apr 14, 2019 -
@eschaton That's an old something or other from the '90's, is it not?
- Apr 11, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Whoops. I'm not subscribed via RSS to that. My bad.
- Apr 11, 2019 -
@arush I'm in the middle of the Rhenwar Saga right now, but this one will go on my list for sometime ths year. What is the first novel in this one? I like to go to Kindle and grab the entire series so that I don't have to book-hunt after every single one LOL
- Apr 11, 2019 -
@aaronpk One thing I hate? Potentially missing it.
- Apr 11, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Why haven't I heard of this?
- Apr 11, 2019 -
@cleverdevil I didn't think those gmes were still a thing? Cool!
- Apr 10, 2019 -
@aaronpk I didn't knwo this platform integrated with that? Cool!
- Apr 9, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx I would delete Facebook if not for StormlightTech.
- Apr 9, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx I think your markdon's a little off, or else the interface is displaying it wierd.
- Apr 9, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Gods that drive me insane too LOL
- Apr 7, 2019 -
@cleverdevil That sounds awesome. I can imagine that he'll have a ball.
- Apr 6, 2019 -
@aaronpk only sad thing about Okta? They don't have any options availablefor open source developers.
- Apr 6, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin my mother was a cheer leader in high school for the city of Somerville.
- Apr 6, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx I haven't gotten the hang of seeing all of those as of right now.
- Apr 5, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx as long as there's a reason for it. I tend to bristle at that sort of thing since I've seen friends get screwed.
- Apr 5, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Man, dude, that sucks. Seriously. Just a suggestion. Those meds are needed, right? I become leery of doctors in this day and age over-prescribing things.
- Apr 5, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin Thanks for the advice; will start taking it myself, I think.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin Thanks for the link!
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@manton I love it; think it will enhance the experience adding my Wordpress feed to it; most stuff will be fed from thre to here. Hence why I didn't add this to Twitter or Mastodon at the moment. I suppose I could, though, for now, considering it could be God knows when until I get my site up LOL.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx h,m,mm interesting.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@blair degrees are getting easier to obtain. Not sure what to think.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@arush I'm not putting anything on Facebook, either. I'm more interested in setting up a Friendica instance and helping people jump ship. This is going to be a fun project ...
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@ChangelingMx Feel as if I've heard of this and should know it.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@arush That's very, very, good to hear. Love that thing. I'm always hunting for stuff to make my scripting life easier.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@arush Hence why I will only use it for some things. Those being Akismet, the ability to follow others, and for Wordpress.com account stuff in general. won't even use the publicize module because it actually conflicts with the Post Kinds plugin.You probably alrady knew that, though.
- Apr 4, 2019 -
@knsontag Sometimes you have to remember the old attage. Family first. Worry about them and save the world another day. God will find you coverage, I'm sure of it.
- Mar 31, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin Al in how we look at things.
- Mar 31, 2019 -
@JohnPhilpin I read an article about that yesterday. Needless to say, bothered me to no end. That's for sure.
- Mar 31, 2019 -
@samgrover I never noticed that when I had an Apple Watch. I love it, but at the same time, thought the battery life sucked. I use a Fitbit now LOL.
- Mar 31, 2019 -
@samgrover That sounds absolutely beautifully.
